WELCOME TO Y6

We have had a great start in Y6. We are a T.E.A.M because – Together Everyone Achieves More.

SCIENCELIGHT

Did you know:

  • Light travels in a straight line.
  • Light travels from an object to our eyes.
  • The surface of an objects affects how much light is reflected.
  • Mirrors have very smooth surfaces which allows them to reflect lots of light.
  • When light hits rough objects, the light is reflected in many different directions so they do not reflect as much light.

We are going to be making periscopes next week. Do you know the function of a periscope and how it works? Watch this space.

HISTORY – World War One

Why did WWI start? What do you know about the Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente? The children in Y6 identified and coloured in the countries that belonged to the Triple Alliance and the Triple Entente. Next, they will be looking at ‘Life in the Trenches’.

RE- The Holy Trinity

In RE, Y6 is learning about ‘The Holy Trinity’. The children started off by creating their representation of The Holy Trinity symbol. If you find understanding how The Holy Trinity can be three in one and one in three, try thinking about it this way –

Martha is a daughter but she is also a sister and a cousin. When she is a sister, she does not stop being a daughter or a cousin. She is all three but she is also still Martha.
