Walk or Wheel – which did you do?

Walk to School Week 2025 will take place from 19th to 23rd May. This year’s theme is “The Great Space Walk,” where children will embark on an intergalactic adventure while learning about the benefits of active travel. The event is run by Living Streets, a UK-based charity that promotes active travel. If you usually drive to school, consider parking a little further away to walk the final part to the school gate, it all counts.

Each day has a specific focus which the children will discuss:

Day 1 – Mental Health Children will learn how walking or wheeling is a great way to clear our heads and lift our spirits, arriving to school happy, refreshed and ready to learn.

Day 2 – Physical Health Children will learn how great walking to school is for our bodies and the incredible impact movement can have on our physical health.

Day 3 – Sustainability Children will learn about the importance of sustainability and the impact walking to school can have on the planet.

Day 4 – Road Safety Children will learn how walking to school helps reduce the number of cars on the road making our streets less busy and safer for everyone.

Day 5 – Community Pupils will learn how walking to school gives us an opportunity to get to know our surroundings, the people who live around us, and the important role we all play as part of our communities.

We wanted to see how we got on as a school community so thank you for the selfies we have received. Please keep sending them in over the week to add to this blog!
