What Makes Something Special?

As part of Reception’s RE unit, the children have been learning about the different ways in which things are special to us – including places, objects, memories and the specialness of religious artifacts. The unit also explores the teaching of Jesus that all people are special to God.

The children were able to bring in and share an item or object that is special to them. This allowed the children to explore and understand that different things are special to people for different reasons.

The children then had the opportunity to share their special things with their friends. This helped them to recognise that it is important to look after, care for and show respect for things that are special to us and things that are special to others.

We are all special in the eyes of God!

“You are precious to me, and I have given you a special place of honour” (Isaiah 43:3)
