We as a school feel it is important to keep being an active voice for charities in our local area as well as further afield.
To begin our charitable giving this year, we will be taking part in Jeans for Genes on the 20th September. On this day, we are inviting staff and children to wear jeans or an item of denim clothing and make a minimum contribution of £1 to this very worthy cause.
Jeans for Genes was established in 1994 by Children’s Medical Research Institute to fund revolutionary research that helps diagnose, understand and find cures or treatments for conditions affecting children, including genetic diseases, cancer, and epilepsy.
To date there are around 6,000 genetic disorders. It is estimated that one in 25 children is affected by a genetic disorder. 30,000 babies and children are newly diagnosed in the UK each year.
