children’s mental health week

Children’s Mental Health Week is taking place this week, 1-7th February 2021. This year’s theme is Express Yourself. Expressing yourself is about finding ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas through creativity. This could be through art, music, writing and poetry, dance and drama, photography and film and doing activities that make you feel good.

Place2Be has suggested this simple ‘Draw Your Feelings’ activity for parents to do with their children and have fun.

This week we will also be introducing ‘Well-being Wednesday’. Each week after their weekly RE lesson, we encourage the children to switch off their screens and do something they enjoy such as drawing, playing a board game or going for some exercise. We hope this will motivate and inspire the children to begin lifelong habits of looking after themselves. Each day, on ClassDojo, we will post a speech bubble to remind the children of ways to look after their mental health.
