growing wild

Being a school surrounded by road and houses with little green space makes a challenging proposition for sustainability and helping the environment. However, we have created wild flower meadow behind the Ray Wickes Building to support insect wildlife and birds. Here are some pictures of the wildflower garden in bloom.

We also have a garden area in the infants with a bug house to encourage friendly insects and raised beds where we have grown strawberries, potatoes and runner beans. The strawberries and potatoes were taken to the school kitchen to add to our school dinners.

There are also some fruit trees here producing apples, pears and plums in abundance:
