A Walk through the Rainforest

Henri Rousseau

This term, Year 2 have been learning about Rainforests. We also learnt about the artist Henri Rousseau and were able to link his work to our topic. Henri Rousseau was a famous french painter and his art was known as ‘Post-Impressionism’. This was an abstract style of art, meaning he did not try to paint things exactly as they look in real life. Year 2 were inspired by his work especially his famous painting ‘Tiger in a Tropical Storm-Surprised’

Year 2 were shown lots of his paintings and took their time to carefully sketch out their work.

After the sketching, we used a selection of water paints to create the different colours of the rainforest.

We are all very pleased with our finished product! Well done to the Year 2 artists!
