In Literacy, Year five have been learning how to write a biography. They are using Steve Biko as their subject while learning the features of a biography. They will use the skills they learn to then research and write a biography about Nelson Mandela.
Biko and Mandela have been chosen as their lives tie in with our wider curriculum learning about the Benin Kingdom and Africa’s past, Black History Month and Black Lives Matter.
Whilst researching the life and times of Steve Biko, children also had opportunities to create a text map of his life timeline, focusing on major vents. They also created sketches through close observation.
