Learning together

At St Michael’s, collaborative learning opportunities are encouraged at our school. We use ‘Kagan’ strategies, which is a simple, yet powerful approach to engage all the children in their learning and also instil the values of sharing and co-operation.

Due to Covid guidelines, we were restricted with using some of the strategies, but that did not stop us from using this effective approach. Teachers were creative and for example did our Quiz, Quiz, Trade strategy outside and in the hall, where there was more space to social distance.

This is what some of the Year 6 children

‘The Quiz, Quiz, Trade helped a lot as it gave me important information for the assessment. I think I will get 100%’

‘This was great before we did our science assessment because it made me think. It helped me to remember all the things we have done in science and some of the things I’d forgotten.
