Recreating Lost and Found

This half term in Year 1 we have had fun with the story ‘Lost and Found’ by Oliver Jeffers.

We returned to school after the Christmas holidays, only to find a penguin with a lost and found tag around it’s neck!

We decided to think of a variety of questions we could ask this penguin using who, what, why, when and where. We realised that the penguin was from a new story that we were about to share. Over the last 6 weeks some of the things we have enjoyed included making some found posters, creating story maps and actions to retell the story, sequencing the story and writing about our favourite part of the story.

We found out some interesting facts about Emperor penguins and used this information to make fact files, we also recreated our own versions of ‘Lost and Found’ with new characters and settings.
