who will be our year 6 leaders?

In the Summer term at St Michael’s, we have a very special time where children in Year 5 begin the application process to represent the school in a position of leadership for the next academic year.

Those leadership positions include Head Boy and Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Girl as well as Prayer Leaders and House Captains.

To be a leader at St Michael’s is a privilege and it carries responsibility, as such the application process is quite robust. The children had to answer questions about the qualities a leader needs to possess and give details about how they have had to show some of these leadership qualities in their own lives. These points of reference could relate to school or in other areas such as sports clubs or in church outside of the school setting. They were also asked during the application process to think of any new initiatives they would like to bring to the school.

Due to the current health crisis, we were unable to hold interviews in the usual way. We therefore had some applicants via Zoom, whilst others were in school.

The children were interviewed by a panel including the existing Head Boy and Girl, as well as the deputies and two members of staff, Mrs Ferguson and Ms Gillespie; it was a rewarding experience for all involved. Some positions will be revealed in the new academic year, as a further opportunity to submit an application will be given. However, we are pleased to announce the following Leaders for academic Year 2020/2021

The other leadership positions will be announced in the Autumn term, but we would like to extend our congratulations and support for these new Year 6 leaders.
