Year 6 at the Imperial War Museum
Our Year 6 students recently visited the Imperial War Museum as part of their history topic. The highlight of the trip was a moving Q&A session with Ken, a 92-year-old guest who was just five when the Second World War broke out.

They were fascinated by his stories and received a firsthand account on what life felt like for children during the WW2.
- Can you imagine your playground being bombed out buildings and sites full of rubble and unknown dangerous items?
- Can you imagine sleeping on the floor in the London underground for weeks?
- Can you imagine attending ten different schools by the time you turned twelve because you kept moving homes?
Those were some of the examples of Ken’s normal life during WW2.
Year 6 showed exceptional respect and sensitivity while listening to Ken’s first-hand accounts of the war. Their thoughtful questions helped bring their learning to life, and they were truly superb ambassadors for the school.
