La Posada

Posada is a Latin American tradition which re-enacts the journey of Mary and Joseph as they travel on foot from Nazareth in the north of Israel to Bethlehem in the south for the birth of the baby Jesus; a distance of about 130km (80 miles). As they travelled, they would need somewhere to rest each night – Posada is Spanish for an inn or lodging place.

In Mexico, Las Posadas would take place on the nine days culminating in Christmas Eve and is accompanied by pilgrims signing special songs and the figures of Mary and Joseph then join a nativity scene in the house in which they stay overnight. In school, Mary and Joseph (and their donkey) spent one night in each classroom until they are bought into our final Monday whole school collective worship.

We are welcoming the visitors in our classrooms over the next 2 weeks, we will give them lodging and a safe place to stay.

After coming into our Collective Worship on Monday, the visitors began their journey and settled for the night in Ms Gillespie's office.  Joseph is great at looking after plants - so he settled right in!

The next morning, our visitors travelled to the school office and were welcomed by Mrs Gayle and Ms Fuller.  I am sure there will be a warm and cosy place to stay there.

Travellers Day 1

They did find the perfect place to rest where they could say hello to all the visitors to the school office.
