Curly, Coily or Afro - All are welcome here!

We had lots of fun celebrating World Afro Day in school!

The children were invited to join in by wearing a bonnet, durag or scarf for the day. Whether they have curly, coily or afro hair — or simply wanted to join in with the fun — everyone was welcome to take part.

The day gave us a wonderful opportunity to talk about how our hair is different and that different hair types need different ways of caring for them. We learned that there is no one way to look after our hair, and that everyone's hair is unique and special.

Most importantly, World Afro Day gave us a chance to celebrate something we all have in common: our differences! We talked about how being different is something to be proud of, and how our differences help to make our school community such a wonderful and interesting place to be.

There were lots of smiles, colourful scarves, fabulous bonnets and brilliant do-rags around school!
