Celebrate a Love of Books
On Thursday 5th March, St. Michael’s turned into a world of stories as we celebrated World Book Day! From mysterious wizards and fearless adventurers to classic storybook characters, the school was full of imagination and creativity.
The children and teachers arrived dressed as their favourite book characters, bringing beloved stories to life. Throughout the day, classes shared their favourite books, took part in fun reading activities, and discovered new stories to enjoy. The excitement didn’t stop there—there were quizzes, including an Emoji Quiz where children had to guess the book from the picture clues. The children also enjoyed storytelling sessions, rearranging anagrams to reveal book-themed words or characters and plenty of laughter as everyone celebrated the magic of books. The teachers swapped classes for a session and each prepared a fun activity to do with the class given.

Class Swap for World Book Day
During the class swap, Year 1 were tasked with a book character I spy activity. They had to count how many times they could spot the story character. The concentration on some of their faces was out of this world!
World Book Day reminds us that every book is a doorway to a new adventure. Whether you love thrilling mysteries, funny tales, or magical worlds, there’s always a story waiting to be discovered.
Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker made an appearance (wink wink) and hosted an Upper Junior Football Tournament with the children still dressed in their World Book Day costumes. All the children were in fine form and played with heart! The winning team in the Year 5 competition were goal happy and had a few hat trick heroes! The winning team in Year 6 showed team work, grit and determination.
The final was contested between the winning Year 5 and the winning Year 6 class and what a final it was! Congratulations to them all.

After school, we finished off World Book Day by having a disco and the children were buzzing.
