Horniman Museum

As part of the topic of ‘Under the Sea’, Reception children visited the Aquarium at the Horniman Museum.

The children were able to observe some of the under the sea water creatures, such as the South American fish, clown fish, jelly fish and seahorses.  They were able to get up close and personal to a live coral display and watched reef fish move between, and interact, within its habitat.

The children also had a chance to explore the rest of the museum and were able to see lots of other amazing animals and learned about their lives too. They were very excited that they were given permission to touch and feel museum artifacts and loved dressing up as under the sea animals.

In the workshop, the children were learning about habitats and they were given the opportunity to use their imagination and be ‘transported’ to various places around the world. They particularly enjoyed the camouflage game!

Many thanks to the Horniman museum!  The children had a fantastic time! Adults too!
