Can We Make A Noise?

This year, the theme of Anti-Bullying Week is ‘Make A Noise About Bullying’ and St Michael’s are doing just that!

We launch all events with Odd Socks Day which is a national event all about what makes someone unique. Behind all the fun and bright socks, there was a serious message to share. Everyone puts on their odd socks to show we’re ALL unique and different, to be kind to each other and respect each other’s individuality.

Anti-Bullying Week aims to remind everyone whether it’s in school, at home, in the community or online, to make a noise and stop bullying. We discuss who our trusted adults are and remind children that it is ok to speak to someone we trust, such as people in school or family at home.

We also discussed types of bullying, including ‘banter’ and the feelings that they may produce in all concerned. The conversations will be continuing over the week.

Anti-Bullying Week 2023 – Make A Noise About Bullying:

CALL TO ACTION

Too often, we are silent when we see bullying take place, silent about the hurt bullying causes, and silent when we hear bullying dismissed as ‘just banter’.
It doesn’t have to be this way.

Of course, we won’t like everyone and we don’t always agree, but we can choose respect and unity.

This Anti-Bullying Week let’s come together to have discussions about what bullying means to us, how banter can turn into something more hurtful, and what we can do to stop bullying. Together, we can make a difference and take a stand against bullying.

From the playground to Parliament, and from our phones to our homes, let’s make a noise about bullying.

Our value this half term is ‘peace’ and we have spent time discussing how we can bring peace and how random acts of kindness can send a ripple effect through our home, school and communities. As a school community, we are continuing to focus on being kind and this Anti-Bullying Week, we come together and make a noise to stop bullying!

Please see a video which will be shared with the children in support of this very important message.
