Spots and stripes

Friday, 13th November

Children In Need is the BBC’s charity and their mission is to help ensure every child in the UK is safe, happy, secure and has the opportunities they need to reach their potential.

In November they always have an annual appeal and they use the money that they raise to fund local charities and projects who help remove the barriers that are facing children and young people, so that they can thrive.

At St Michael’s, we want to instill the value of love in our children and we want to ensure they have opportunities to show kindness and to make a difference in the world of other people. We will therefore be participating in ‘Children in Need’ day by inviting everyone to wear items of clothing that have spots and/or stripes (with their own clothes – no uniform) and to donate £1 to this wonderful charity.

We will avoid the handling of money as much as possible, so we are going to ask children to drop their coin in a bucket at the gate – not to hand it to a staff member.

The following week is Anti-Bullying Week, so please see the blog about our ‘Odd Socks Day’ on Monday the 16th November – to kick start Anti-bullying week.
