God sends help

This week in our church collective worship and in our classes , we have been learning about Pentecost. Pentecost is the Christian festival celebrating the descent  of the Holy Spirit on the followers of Jesus after his ascension, held on the seventh Sunday after Easter.

After Jesus’ resurrection, he spent some time with his disciples before his ascension to heaven. When Jesus had left them, the disciples were feeling a little bewildered and a little anxious. They were hiding and they were waiting and they were afraid.  But Jesus had made them a promise; he had promised to send them a very special gift. This gift would help them not to be afraid; this gift would help the disciples to do the job that Jesus had asked them to do – to tell others about him.

With Pentecost being know as the birth of the church, it was only fitting we celebrated with some birthday cake. Thank you to Georgina for making these wonderful cakes for the school community to enjoy.

As well as this Rev Ifeanyi visited all the classes to speak about Pentecost and our spiritual garden and answer any questions the children had.

Sunday 28th of May is Pentecost Sunday – where we remember that God sent help.
